The neighborhood of Aston Mills is located in the northern region of Aston Township in Deleware County, Pennsylvania. The neighboring towns include Garnet Valley, Village Green, Rockdale, Crozierville, and Green Ridge. Concord Road travels across the community along with Cherry Tree Road and Chichester Avenue. The West Branch Chester Creek flows along the northern edge of the neighborhood.

History

The greater area was part of one of Pennsylvania’s first townships and was incorporated in 1688. Settlers came in around 1682, and the area was called Northley. Its name would be changed at the hands of the constable, Edward Carter, as he paid homage to his old home in England. At the five-point intersection on Concord Road was the Seven Stars Inn. During Colonial times, this inn served as a meeting place for the British.

British General Cornwallis was even known for sleeping at the inn following the Battle of Brandywine in 1777. The neighborhood’s public schools are part of the Penn-Delco School District. Some of the ones zoned for the residents include: Aston Elementary School – located on Tirens Road Northley Middle School – located on Concord Road Sun Valley High School – located on Pancoast Avenue The community is also home to Neumanns University, located on Convent Road, and as many as 14.8% of the residents attend college. The private Catholic university was founded in 1965 and can accommodate over 750 students.
