The township is located in the southeastern region of Delaware County within the state of Pennsylvania. Within the township are the census-designated places, CDP, of Woodlyn and Folsom. Howe was a Commander-in-Chief of British land forces in the Colonies during the war. Following the Battle of Brandywine, General George Washington stayed with John McIlvain, a sawmill owner, in Crum Creek. The house is said to still stand to this day. The troops camped along the road during this time.
