Boothwyn

The census-designated place, or CDP, is located in the southern region of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The community takes up 768 acres and has an elevation of 98 feet. Some of the neighboring towns are Aston Mills, Garnet Valley, Linwood, and Marcus Hook.

History

In 1682, after William Penn first arrived in the state, the Chichester Meeting was established within the community. Robert Wade, an early settler that arrived in the area in 1675, organized the meetings. The meeting house attained did not attain the status of Monthly Meeting until 1684. Members met in homes until the building was built in 1688 on two acres bought from James Brown. However, in January of 1769, a fire destroyed the building. A new building was built within a year to replace the destroyed one.

The building still shows bullet holes from the British foraging parties after the Battle of Brandywine in 1777. From 1793 until 1836, a school was established at the meetinghouse.

Neighborhood

The community is home to the Maplezone Sports Institute, located on Chichester Avenue. The facility has outdoor sports fields that can be rented out for sporting events. Additionally, they have summer camps and offer lessons on specific sports. They cater to the following sports:

A private Catholic school that some of the children attend is the Holy Family Regional Catholic School. The school was formed in 2012 after Holy Savior-St. John Fisher Elementary School and St. Joseph Catholic School merged.
