The borough of Rutledge is situated in the southeast section of Delaware County in the state of Pennsylvania. History

A group of businessmen established the neighborhood in 1885. In 1887 it was officially incorporated into a borough. Legend has it that the name derived from a love of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. However, it was actually based on one of the prominent landowners, Edward Rutledge. Edward was the youngest to sign the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Neighborhood

The Triangle Park is located within the intersection of Rutledge Avenue, Waverly Terrace, and Swarthmore Avenue. The park is the only one within the borough and offers the community a natural setting with the following amenities:

There is a lot of pre-World War II architecture, and many of the homes within the residential community were constructed in the late 1800s.
