History

The greater area was part of the land granted to William Penn around 1681. One of the first settlers was George Cheyney. The ground was later broken into parcels and sold.

Within the neighborhood is The Inn at Grace Winery, a historical winery that sits on 35 acres in the Brandywine Valley. Initially, the property belonged to William Penn. In 1753, the Sweetwater farm was sold by Alexander Hemphill to James and Ann Hemphill, his son and daughter-in-law. Around 1776, James joined the revolutionary army, serving under General George Washington. In the days following the Battle of Brandywine, the farm was ransacked by British troops.

In 1810, the Okie family purchased the farm and added the 1815 wing. The farm would pass through several owners before being bought by Linda Kaat and turned into bed and breakfast. Kaat sold bed and breakfast to Grace Le Vine. The property was taken over by her brother, Chris, and his wife, Vicki. They converted the 1750s barn into a winery.

The public schools the residents are zoned for are part of the West Chester Area School District. Some of these include:
