The organization started back in 1909 by a small group that created skits, shows, and musicals for their own entertainment. Such shows were initially held in Ward’s Hall, which is where they held their first-ever performance, The Arabian Nights, on January 22, 1909.
As the oldest continuously operating community theatre in the state of Pennsylvania and the third oldest in the United States, The Barnstormers Theater produces about six plays annually. The theatre serves the local community and surrounding areas of Ridley Park.
